Ward Member Grant Scheme

At its meeting on 2 March 2020, the Council agreed its Budget for 2020/21, included within which was a Ward Member grant allocation for each Councillor of £500. This has now been reviewed in the light of the Covid-19 outbreak and the context of Members’ role supporting their communities and providing community leadership. Following the review, the Leader has determined that the allocation for each Councillor will now be £1,000 as set out in the attached report.

Reason for urgency:
The Council is responding to the Covid-19 outbreak and needs to ensure that arrangements are in place to support local communities. Th espeed with which resources may be required as a result of the outbreak means that it was not possible to give 28 days prior notification of the decision, nor to wait for the expiration of the call-in period.
